Think candlelight, soft music, a sparkling cocktail, amazing food and spot-on service. All that, and maybe a decadent dessert, and you have the makings for a lovely night out with your Valentine. Door County has plenty of fine-dining options. Many aren’t open in the winter months, but fortunately, some of our favorites are! Many are offering specials during the winter months, and some have special menus planned for Valentines weekend. To get you started on your Door Couty February vacation plans, here are our top five most romantic restaurants. (Now, or anytime of the year.)
Chives in Baileys Harbor
There’s just something about Chives. It’s charming. Inviting. Cozy. We love the cocktails, the oysters, the most amazing whitefish entree, and when the sun is up, you get a view of the water. What’s more romantic than oysters and a view?! If you don’t fill up on oysters, we highly recommend the “Chives Trio” of crab cake, goat cheese wontons, and cold smoked salmon. Delicious!

Chives recently went through a refresh with some interior renovations and design. (Be sure to check out the bathroom!) It’s fancy, but unpretentious. The menu is sophisticated, but also comforting. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and fun. Chives is a warm spot, on a cold night.
Chop in Sister Bay
If the tall, luxurious, dark green velvet booths don’t say date night to you, then what are you even doing here? Chop has the white tablecloth atmosphere, without the tablecloths. Wood grain, warm leathers, and a soft glow from table lamps. The whole palette puts the fine in fine dining.

Chop has a menu to match. Scallops, lobster, filet. Be sure to start off with one of their signature crafted cocktails. This year, Chop is offering a special 3-course Valentine’s weekend menu that includes soup or salad, surf and turf, and chocolate mousse or carrot cake to top if off. Reservations are highly recommended.
Alexander’s in Fish Creek
You can’t go wrong with Alexander’s. If you’re looking for that “white tablecloth” vibe, you found it. Want tried and true menu items? You found it. If you crave some of the best apps in the county, you found it! We just love sitting at that fabulous bar, and ordering apps all night long. That says love to us. “You had me at baked brie.” But if you want to sit at a table, just the two of you, staring into each other’s eyes, while waiting for your Tenderloin Gorgonzola or Blackened Sushi-Grade Tuna, then Alexander’s is for you.

Alexander’s is also offering a special “Sweetheart Dinner Package” all month long. (February 2026). It includes a four course dinner for two that includes a bev, app, soup or salad, entree and dessert. Alexander’s — if you want to eat where the locals go for special occasions. (Or, really, where they gather at the bar!)
Thyme in Sister Bay
Honestly, we love Thyme for its summer vibe… doors wide open, patio seating, and right next door to our favorite Twelve Eleven wine bar. But we also love that they are open now. For us winter lovers.

Soup, risotto, tortellini. They have all that feel-good comfort food you need in the middle of the cold months. But the food here, can also be romantic! Cuddle up for Thyme’s three course dinner for Valentines weekend. We see the bisque and the lava cake and we are in love.
La Sirena in Ephraim
La Sirena is new to the dining scene in Door County, but the space is not. We visited here under three different names. The menu has changed, but the vibe has not. It’s a gem. It’s intimate. Charming. Upscale but also casual. And definitely romantic. Bring your sweetheart here because it is special.

The menu at La Sirena is typically a set menu, and features a modern take on traditional Mexican cuisine. The chef’s previous venture in California, earned a coveted Michelin star. And we know why. The food is amazing and the experience was unforgettable. What’s more romantic than that?! Just know that the room is tiny and the seats are hard to come by. So make your reservation now or remember this for your next Door County vacation.
We travel with our taste buds. We want to be wined and dined. And in Door County there are so many places that will make your visit memorable. But before you make a reservation, make sure you’ve made plans to stay the night. Or three. Book Northern Door Vacations for your next romantic getaway.
