Your Door County vacation getaway should feel like a vacation. Rest. Relaxation. And exploring! And that’s we have already done to find some of the best new places along the peninsula. We are sure there are more to explore. And that’s the fun of it. So please let us know which ones you like, which which ones you are excited to visit, and which ones we’ve missed.

ZaZa’s Pizzeria – Sister Bay

Let’s get right to it. We. Love. Pizza. And so we were super excited to try the new ZaZa’s Pizzeria in Sister Bay.

We were especially eager when our local friends had only good things to say about it! It’s thin crust and take out. If you’re still interested, please read on! It’s not just a thin crust. It’s a crispy crust. A “cracker crust,” as our friend likes to say. She said it had “just the right amount of toppings” and liked the littlest bit of burnt on the edges.

It’s one of those pizzas where you can’t eat just one slice! The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. As for the ambiance, it’s a basically a glorified garage. (Yet charming with it’s mustache logo.) We enjoyed Tip Top margaritas and a game of Connect four while we waited the 15 minutes for our pizza to be ready. Pro tip: get the homemade giardiniera as a bonus topping.

Helioterra Wines – Fish Creek

From Cherry to California, Door County has some amazing options for the wine lovers in your group. We have friends who have had a blast on the Door County Trolley trips through the local wine scene. Twelve Eleven Wine Bar in Sister Bay is a must stop during our visits. And we just discovered a new wine bar in Fish Creek that specializes in wines from Washington State.

Helioterra Wines is located in the Top of the Hill Shops. The staff was warm and welcoming, and so was the vibe. We tried the flights. White for the white wine lovers. Red for the red wine lovers. And the “best of” for those who don’t care. Snacks are avaialbe. We recommend getting the cheese. Don’t know what it was. But it was delicious.

And right next door to Helioterra is…

Willowbury Lane Home Decor – Fish Creek

We seem to do our best shopping AFTER we’ve had a drink or two. Maybe it’s not wise, but it’s fun. So do what’s best for you. Shop first. Wine first. Either way, these two businesses are located right next to each other. So it was a “two-fer” on our list of new places to try.

Willowbury Lane has turned a basic store into separate little rooms to walk through. A bedroom. A sunroom. All filled with beautiful things for the home. We loved the glassware and serving dishes and all the things for a beautiful tablescape. You’ll also find bedding and candles and gifts.

On our “to do list” for next time…

Ember at the Landmark. We know this one is going to be good. It’s the same chef/owners as The Fireside in Egg Harbor. Now they have a sister restaurant inside of The Landmark Resort. From what we are seeing on social media, the food and views of the bay are fantastic.

Red Barn Biscuit Company in Ephraim. The signs are up, and we’ve seen their social accounts. Now all we have to do is wait for the big opening. Bacon, egg and cheese on a HOMEMADE biscuit? You bet!

Brown Butter Bakeshop. We don’t know if you need more than the name to be intrigued, but this one looks mouthwatering. It’s located in the Country Walk Shops in Sister Bay, near Twisted Tree (one of our favorites). Give Twisted Tree a visit for their last year in business (sad) and then head to the new bake shop for sweets like brioche pastries, mini cakes, brownies and bars. At least that’s what we plan to do!

And while it’s not a new business, Wally’s Weenie Wagon in Baileys Harbor is now a full fledged restaurant in Jacksonport. Get your Vienna beef hot dog fix with all the fixins here. Stop on by for breakfast or lunch!

And if you, too, want to check out these new places or all of the amazaing businesses already established in Door County, book your vacation getaway today with Northern Door Vacations!
