It has been a long and bumpy road for Egg Harbor shops this year, with the ongoing construction of Highway 42 right through the middle of the village. But the orange cones are gone and the doors are wide open. That’s great news for us when we want to visit some of our favorite places: Main Street Market, The Big Easy and One Barrell, to name a few. It’s also welcome news for the plethora of cute shops and boutiques. And when it comes to shopping in Door County, especially with your girlfriends, Egg Harbor is the place to be!
Spot is spot on!
Spot just opened in a new location in Egg Harbor, just a few steps away from its previous location. Now as a stand alone, with it’s bright orange signature color, you can’t miss it as you pass through town. We have loved Spot ever since it first opened in Sister Bay. We are equally smitten with its sister shop Space and sister dining/drinking destination Sip! But back to Egg Harbor…
If you’re looking for a pop of color to add to your wardrobe, Spot is the space! It’s full of women’s clothing and accessories that appeal to all ages. (Our kids always find something!) You’ll find lovely, and sometimes quirky, earrings, bags, shoes, travel mugs, candles, and Door County souvenir sweatshirts.
Maxwell’s House for eclectic and elegant home goods
We’ve been shopping at Maxwell’s House since the 90’s. And it just keeps getting better. The Egg Harbor shop has a mix of bright and charming gifts, but is also a destination for homeowners looking for unique and custom furniture, rugs, bedding and artwork.
If you’re looking to add a little touch of Door County to your local cottage, or want to take a piece of the county back home with you, Maxwell’s House offers some unique finds. Those lamps!
Several Egg Harbor shops under one roof
Not only is the space unique, an old house with a cupola on top, the shops inside are just so darn pretty. We make regular stops to Cupola House to pick up a bottle (or three) of wine from Daughters and Co. . The owner is so helpful. Let him know what you like in a wine, who you are buying for, the occasion or whatever else you can think of and he’ll find you the perfect one. (or three!)
Head up to the second level where you’ll find KEEPER, a shop that aims to “inspire a lifestyle that embraces sustainability and style.” We loved the unique jewelry and other treasures. The atmosphere is fresh and yet gives a nod to the past. We felt like we discovered a secret room in the house.
Back downstairs, you’ll be charmed by the children’s clothing and books at Effie Street Kids boutique.
Wish Door County: where “gifts come true!”
A friend of ours recently opened her dream store in Egg Harbor with one of her besties. They have filled the shop with gifts for any occasion. At Wish, you’ll find gifts for dinner party hosts, baby showers, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays or just about any occasion. We can imagine filling one of their luxurious picnic baskets and grabbing some water toys and heading to one of our favorite beaches. You’ll also find some treasures for yourself to remember your trip to Door County.
Stop at the big gray barn for fun furnishings
Many of the women and girls in our family are wearing an enewton bracelet. And that’s how we discovered Door County Nature Works. We like to give them as gifts, or add one to our collection, and we found out this Egg Harbor shop carries them. But as you can see, it’s also full of everything you might ever want when it comes to home decorating and gift giving. Indoor and outdoor furniture, fine and casual dinnerware, gifts for babies and pets, and the list goes on.
A shop geared toward the fashionista
Do you have that one favorite shop that you return to time and again? A friend of ours never misses a chance to stop at Blacksmith Clothing Co. whenever she is in or passing through Egg Harbor. And she always finds something delightful. From dresses to jewelry and seasonal sweaters (peep that cute cherry number), you’ll find it at Blacksmith. You’ll find some items for the men in your life, too.
