If you love to shop, let us tell you why we think Fish Creek should be on your vacation agenda! Some of our most favorite shops are there and you can make a whole day of it. Some of us live in the Green Bay area, and sometimes just go for a day trip. The shops are diverse, artsy, fashion forward, Door County inspired, eclectic, fun and also nestled among some great “rest stops.” So… let’s go shopping!

Strolling down Main Street
We’re going to start with our most favorites which are all within walking distance along Fish Creek’s charming Main Street. In midsummer the flowers are in full bloom and the colors pop against the historic and mostly white buildings. Bring the guys along, too. If shopping isn’t their thing, they can pop into Hill Street for a drink at the outdoor bar or into Bayside for a cold brew and to watch some sports.

The Cream of the Shop
We’re going to start our day of shopping in Fish Creek at Sister Golden. More art gallery than gift shop. Sister Golden features the mother nature inspired art of owner Vicki Rawlins. We’re always amazed at how she takes flower petals, leaves and sticks and turns them into portraits, woodland scenes and forever bouquets. Take home a print, or a puzzle, or a calendar full of her works of art.

Sister Golden also supports a number of independent artists and their home decor, glassware, candles, baskets, handmade rugs, jewelry and more. We love the kantha quilts made from Indian sari material. It’s a great place to pick up a one-of-kind gift for yourself or someone special. Like that glassware!

From Sister Golden you can see our two favorites for clothes shopping in Fish Creek! We love Spruce for the jeans and tees we live in every day, but also for the cutest dresses and outfits one needs for a special occasion in Door County. Going to a wedding? Or a day on the boat? Or out for a nice dinner? Put Spruce on your list! Spruce carries such brands as Mother, The Great, and Frank & Eileen.

Need a pair of Birkenstocks? Head to Fred & Co. right across the street. You’ll find shoes, hats, handbags, jewelry and clothing inside this charming boutique with the latest trends and a friendly staff.

From summer sweaters and graphic tees to pajamas and jeans, Fred & Co. offers a fun mix of fashion. Brand names include Free People, Cleobella, Wooden Ships, Kut and Lucy Paris.

Something for the kids and kids at heart
Just next door from Fred & Co. is Fun Stuff. And it is just that, a lot of fun stuff! You might find a coin purse with Taylor Swift’s face on it, or a cup with your kid’s name on it. Our kids are obsessed with the putty, stuffed animals, charm bracelets, and fun socks. You call also find fun gift items for grown ups, too!

Off the beaten path
After all that shopping, it might be time to stop for lunch, or a refreshment at Bayside! Then, don’t miss the shops just behind it. Head down the alley toward the water and marina and you’ll see The Shops at Bayside, a cluster of tiny buildings with a lot of fun in store.

Wink has resort wear and swimsuits for the whole family. Jack & Joie is an adorable shop where we first fell in love with their collection of vintage glassware. But we are also delighted by their new signature glassware featuring Wisconsin, Door County and the Great Lakes. A great addition to anybody’s bar! Speaking of cocktails..

Back up on Main Street, and next door to Bayside, you’ll find the Fish Creek Market and On Deck. The market has more than just your grocery needs. You’ll find Door County made gifts, things for the home and essentials for your Door County getaway. Bring the guys along to On Deck for a new golf shirt or going-out-to-dinner-shirt. On the women’s side we have found the cutest clothes for going out, but also shoes and clothing for a hiking adventure. And don’t skip the lower level for a giant selection of Door County souvenir shirts and sweatshirts.

One stop shopping
Some of our kids are old enough to do a little of their own shopping in Fish Creek. When we send them off on a shopping adventure, we know at least two places they’ll visit within Founder’s Square. First, to Door County Confectionery for sour candy, rock candy, saltwater taffy, and hand-made Door County fudge! From rock candy.. to the rock shop. Door County Rock & Gem has pretty rocks and fancy crystals in all shapes, sizes and price points. The grownups will also love the mix of other shops: Plum Bottom Gallery, Hey Daisy, Fish Creek Moccasin, and Good Times Great Lakes for maps and nautical charts.

Finally, let’s make a trek to the Top of the Hill Shops. It’s definitely walking distance, but because it’s at the “top of the hill,” we often drive. (Plus then there’s room in the car for our treasures.)

Then again, some of the treasures don’t require heavy lifting. Trilliant Diamonds and jewelry is one of the newcomers to the area. (And recently opened a place in downtown Sister Bay.) We like to go to say hi to their dogs Opal and Blu. Love Letter is a great consignment shop if you’re looking for gently used luxury labels, and the Main Course has all your kitchen needs. You’ll also find many more shops with clothing for all ages, fine glass and giftware, imported goods and more Door County hats, t-shirts and sweatshirts.

Happy shopping from Northern Door Vacations! Wouldn’t it be nice to stay here after a long day of shopping? Pull up an Adirondack…
